Riverboat Inn & Suites

I purchased the Riverboat Inn in February 2007. The Inn was in such deplorable condition that the Visitor's Center of Madison would bite their tongue as they admitted "yes, there was in fact a riverfront place." Immediately upon taking possession of the Inn, I began the tremendous task of cleaning it up. Everything had to change: plumbing, beds, and even the former clientele. We replaced all beds with plush bedding, upgraded to new wood flooring, installed flat screen TVs in all the rooms. We added refrigerators, microwaves and fireplaces. The addition of decorator touches which include designer towels to fit every room's unique d├ęcor, quaint waterfalls add elegance and charm to the rooms as well. With the new no smoking policy in rooms, we have designated areas outside on the veranda. To make this more comfortable, we furnished the veranda with conversational areas, heated tables and rocking chairs in front of a fire pit. The neighbors were so glad to find the guests improving and the Riverboat Inn changing for the better.

We have the original life ring from the famous Delta Queen Steamboat and the tow rope as deck border from the barge company to give a real feel to being a part of the riverboat. We have painstakingly sought to create our riverboat ambiance and improve the Inn in every possible way. The riverfront deck area has been converted to comfortable relaxing areas even on cloudy rainy days. There are several levels of decks that have been installed to enable multi level areas for friends to gather and enjoy a drink, eat and listen to the live music provided by the lounge on bustling Friday and Saturday nights.

Our lobby operates just like a real riverboat. In the morning, breakfast is served. In the afternoon, puzzles, games, cards or reading takes place. In the evening, the lounge and bar are open serving your favorite beverages. All day you are able to enjoy wireless internet as well.

The main thing we want our guests to know is we strive to make the Riverboat Inn and Suites the most pleasurable experience possible. We are a family here and we treat our guests as family. We like to say.... "enter as guests, leave as family."

Look forward to meet you soon!

Meet the Innkeeper.

Hello, my name is Kathie Petkovic. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, I moved to Destin, Florida where I lived for the next thirty plus years. While I was doing some renovations on old houses in Baton Rouge, LA in 2001, I discovered the Delta Queen Steamboats. I saw most all of the river towns on every river during my forty some cruises on the Delata Queen. Madison, Indiana won my heart. I visited Madison on and off for two years looking for a house in historic downtown with a river view. Then, I found the Inn.

Enter as guests, leave as family.
